So many things happened in 3 days - Paris Haute Couture Week

Paris, give me a break!

Fashion weeks are totally insane. Everything happens so fast it's hard to keep up. We had massive shows in the last 3 days and some of them definitely deserve your attention.

I'll start with Gaultier simply because I absolutely love his collections. I'm a huge fan of his looks since the 90's (yeah I was born in the 90's but hey I can watch all of the shows on Youtube) and I think Jean Paul Gaultier really understood how to make his collections look modern without losing the Gaultier signature. I don't know about you but when I see a Gaultier outfit I immediately know it's 'a Gaultier'. His fall winter 2019 haute couture fashion show happened this last Wednesday (July 3rd) and it was stunning. Lots of colour (but most of the outifts had dark colours), patterns, faux-fur, silk, the famous silhouettes and pointy ends and his good old sense of humor. The models played around the runway, the music was chaotic and there was a glam party vibe in the air. Another thing that should be noted is that Gaultier banned all animal components from his garments YAAAAAS.

I think we should give extra credit for Gaultier because he's still the creative director of the brand and I think that's awesome (hi Valentino).

On Tuesday 2nd we had a majestic show. At the library of the Grand Palais, Chanel hit the runway one more time. They turned the huge library into a circular runway which looked fantastic and definitely caused an impression. Chanel's creative director Virginie Viard showed she's not here to play around. Her haute couture debut was a huge success. I know fashionistas and people from the fashion industry in general love Karl Lagerfeld but honestly, I think he was a dick and I didn't like his collections either. Virginie brought Chanel back to the game, changing the silhouette of the outfits but still keeping the Chanel identity. We had sparkling dresses and coats, beautiful blazers and pants and a good variety of colours - but black and white were predominant. In my opinion, Chanel's style is pretty basic compared to other huge names but I think this collection stepped up and I like it much much more than Karl's collections, that's for sure. Vive Virginie !

Last but not least, the dramatic collection of the season: Valentino.

It was definitely the most important and expected fashion show of this season and it didn't disappoint. Following the floral theme, the creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli brought us bright colours, flowers, head pieces and drama. The show happened in an outside and inside area. The models started in a beautiful garden and finished in a huge room. I understand the commotion but I personally didn't really like this collection. Yeah there were a few awesome looks, but most of them just weren't my cup of tea. Too many dresses and skirts, didn't like the silhouette. I love the fabrics but hate they still use fur. Come on we're in 2019!!!! Also I don't like the idea of knowing Valentino is still alive but just can't be bothered in doing the hard work so has a creative director to design the collections for him but he still receives most of the credit for them.

There were many more interesting shows such as Givenchy, Armani Prive and Elie Saab but I decided to select the most powerful ones to give you a taste of this fabulous fashion week.

The Haute Couture Week is gone and now we wait for the Paris Fashion Week. I'm already excited!
