Merci Jean Paul ! After a successful 50-year career, the fashion icon says 'au revoir' to the runway

I wasn't expecting this day would come so early. Gaultier, one of the most successful fashion designers of all times has decided to resign from fashion, but he said he'll still be around with his perfume collections and other types of creative expression.

I'm personally a big Gaultier fan, as he has always inspired the weirdness in me. His designs weren't entirely classic and glamorous, they were odd, peculiar, strange. Jean Paul expressed his personality through his clothes, presenting us a world of extravagant and kinky garments.

Gaultier's last haute couture collection was launched last week at the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week and it was a big party. Jean Paul had already stopped working on the ready-to-wear collections in 2015 so he was exclusively working with high fashion. The last week's fashion show was full of celebrities such as Boy George, who opened and closed the 'performance-fashion show', Amanda Lear, Coco Rocha, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Karlie Kloss among others.

The fashion designer started his career in the 80's and changed the world of fashion forever. His work is so well known that it can instantly be recognised anywhere.
